Prof. Vandana has been assigned as Dean, University School of Medicine & Allied Health Sciences, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha  University since 28^th October’2024.

Dr Vandana Talwar joined as Specialist in the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive care at VMMC & SJH in 1995, and was given a teaching designation (Professor) in 2009.

She worked as Head of Intensive care Unit for 4 years, before becoming Head of Department, Anaesthesia and Intensive care in August’22.

Subsequently she took over as Medical Superintendent, VMMC & SJH on 22^nd June’23 till 19^th October’24.

1. Her name was selected among 35 Game Changers in Healthcare of the decade by Confederation of Indian Industry and as one of the Women Leaders in Healthcare on International Women’s Day 2024.
2. Received Special Award for efficient revival of deceased organ donation by Hon MoS Health & Family welfare, Ms Anupriya Patel, on Indian Organ Donation Day, organized by NOTTO, on 3^rd August’24 at New Delhi.

She has over 50 National and International Publications and 100 presentations to her credit, and has won several awards at conferences. She has guided many research projects and has helped organize various conferences. She has been core faculty for the “National Emergency Life Support” course.

1. 4 Cadaveric organ donations done benefitting multiple recipients.
2. Emergency Medicine Department established in October 2023 to improve Emergency services at SJH.
3. Critical Care Medicine Department established in May 2024.
4. To reduce patient time in the hospital and increase efficiency of care by health care providers, Evening OPD has been made functional since 3^rd October’2023.
5. Upgraded 24 hours Cardiology Cath lab Services on 5^th April’2024.
6. Inauguration of Geriatric Care Ward on 17^th September’2024.
7. Stroke Unit initiated on 14^th October’2024.
8. New Courses initiated – DNB Emergency Medicine, FNB Paedatric Gastroenterology.
9. North India’s First Skin bank was inaugurated in Safdarjung Hospital on 20^th June, 2023
10. The first ever successful Bone Marrow Transplant was performed in a central government hospital at VMMC and SJH in August’2023.
11. Safdarjung Hospital was nominated as “National Centre of Excellence for Patient Safety” in July 2023.
12. Renewal of NABH entry level certification in May 2024 (First Entry level in 2021).

1. New courses approved – DM Critical Care Medicine, DM Nephrology, MCh Gynae Oncology in VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital
2. Approval of PhD in Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy in ISIC, New Delhi
