Sharmishthaa Atreja is an academic, currently holding the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Delhi since 2015. Her extensive areas of expertise encompass Critical Theory, Philosophy of Language, Musi-language, Theory of Art, and Disability Theory. Her multifaceted background showcases a dedication to both philosophical inquiries and contemporary societal issues. As a passionate advocate for the intersection of academia and activism, she believes in the power of using scholarly pursuits to drive positive change in society. Her commitment to this ideal is reflected in her involvement as a member of the Special Interest Group 'Critical Disability Studies in India,' which focuses on advancing Disability Studies within universities. Additionally, her role as an Associate Editor for the online journal 'InJCDS- Indian Journal for Critical Disability Studies' underscores her dedication to fostering discourse and understanding in this critical field. Her notable contributions have not gone unnoticed, as she was honoured with 'The Presidential Excellence Award' in 2022 for her significant contributions to the field. Furthermore, her exploration of the intricate relationship between music and philosophy earned her the prestigious B.N. Ray Memorial Philosophy Award 2008. Beyond her academic pursuits, Sharmishthaa Atreja is a Hindustani-Classical vocalist, trained in the revered Gwalior Gharana style. Her musical talents have even taken her abroad, where she has represented Indian music and culture as an ambassador. This artistic dimension to her identity further enriches her profile, highlighting her well-rounded nature and broad interests. Sharmishthaa Atreja's diverse accomplishments as an academic, philosopher, activist, and musician make her a dynamic and a personality whose presence can’t be overlooked. Her dedication to both theoretical inquiries and realworld impact exemplifies her commitment to enhancing societal understanding and fostering positive change.
