Dr. Shashi Rani is Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work, University of Delhi. She also served at the Department of Social Work, BPS Women’s University, Sonipat Haryana. In addition to that she worked as Research Associate at Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), University of Delhi.She has done M. Phil and Ph.D from CSMCH, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Her specialization is in Industrial labour and Occupational Health Services. She did Masters in Social Work(MSW) from Institute of Social Sciences, Dr. BR Ambedkar University Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
She served as Hon.Director CCAW (2022-2025), CCAW is field action project of the Department of social work. It's major focus is on working for marginalised youth and children. Especially adoloscent children counseling, menbtoring skilling and education with various developmental enagaging activities.
She was Faculty Incharge -Project of Establishment of Social Service Unit in Police Stations of Delhi sponsored by Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, (2018-March, 2021).
She has 15 years of University Administraion/Hostel Management experience in the capacity of Warden. She served in university administartion as Warden Meghdoot Hostel, University of Delhi (2011-2025)
She has 15 years teaching experience at University Level along with 8 years of research experience. She has been actively engaged in research and training for more than 15 years on various issues including Marginalization, Inclusion, Social Justice, Women and Child Development, Public Health, Counseling, soft skills, HIV/AIDS and NTEP Programme. Also she is associated with various Government agencies and stakeholders like DCW, CWCs, Observation Homes, SPUWAC at Govt NCT of Delhi working for women and child Development. She is Honorary Director of Child Counseling and Adoloscent Well Being (CCAW) centre of Department of Social Work, University of Delhi(2022-2025).
She is a Master trainer in for cascade training for front line NTEP staff (STS and HV) on counselling soft skills through the STDC’s of the respective State, under Saksham Pravaah Project of Aditi Mahavidyalaya, University Of Delhi. She is also recognized as Master Trainer in HIV/AIDS under the Global Fund Project, Round-7, Department of Social Work, Jamia Millia Islamia (Central University), New Delhi. She has given her services and contributed to various committees in the capacity of member of various advisory, monitoring and supervision committees of Government of NCT, Delhi.
She has published books, chapters in edited books and articles in various journals/magzines. Also invited as a resource person on various platforms for academic lectures and public awareness. She is associated with various institutions and govt organisation.

Dr. Shashi Rani was Honorary Director of Child Counseling and Adoloscent Well Being (CCAW) centre of Department of Social Work, University of Delhi. The centre engaged in promotion of growth and development of children. Special focus is on marginalised and vulnerable sections children. The centre is enaged in various community outreach activities for children of nearby schools and open community.
Convener Anti Ragging Committee 2021-22
Dr. Shashi Rani is the convener of the Anti-ragging Committee. The students were made aware about ragging and its implications. Also as ragging is an offence and punishable under IPC, the knowledge of about it provided to students. In this year 2021-22, mostly classes were conducted in online mode and different batches got hardly any chance to interact with each other. But online interactions are regular part of student life. Keeping in view rising number of online harassment awareness was generated regarding ragging and various provisions of preventive laws.
Convener canteen Committee 2021-22
Dr. Shashi Rani is the convener of the canteen Committee. The canteen services are provided by independent person in the premises of Department of Social Work. Various rounds of meeting conducted by convener with other members of the committee and service providers. In view of management of smooth and proper services, various rounds of meeting were conducted with canteen service provider. The matters related to cleanliness, adherence to Covid-19 appropriate behaviour and arrangements, rates of food item, the availability of healthy and fresh food and other items, were discussed time to time with service provider. The seating arrangement and infrastructural arrangements also taken care by the department in consent with service provider.
Convener Webinar –Online Economic offences: Prevention and Remedies 2022
Dr. Shashi Rani is the convener of an online webinar titled, “Online Economic offences: Prevention and Remedies”. The webinar was organised on 19th February 2022 in association with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and State Bank of India. The focus of the webinar was to create awareness among faculty, students and staff about online economic offences and how to protect against these offences. There are various guidelines provided by RBI time to time, and information regarding all these preventive guidelines and remedies provided by resource persons. The seminar was attended by around 140 participants in blended mode. The participants were from various educational institutions other than university of Delhi.
Convener Supportive Instructions sessions 2021-22
Dr. Shashi Rani is the convener of Supportive Instructions sessions. The field Work unit facilitated to arrange various sessions for students knowledge enhancement and awareness. The sessions were arranged on various topics such as- Career Planning and CV preparation, working with children, civil society monitoring and evaluation, corporate social responsibility and so on. The resource persons were invited from diverse sectors. They are mostly from field and invited in online sessions to provide overview of field work practice, methods, techniques and skills that are required by social work professionals.
Coordinator Orientation Programme -2020
Ten days Orientation programme was organised from Field Work Unit, Department of Social Work. The programme was coordinated with other faculty members. The duties and responsibilities were related to orientation programme schedule preparation, coordination with faculty members, arrangement of orientation sessions for newly admitted students of 2020 batch, feedback and interaction with students.
Coordinator Rural Camp 2019
The five days rural camp was organised by the Field Work Unit, Department of Social Work. The students were taken to Singrur district of Punjab. Four nearby villages were identified, students were divided into four groups and for each group a faculty member was assigned for facilitation of field learning. Students learned various aspects of rural life in this rural camp. Different issues were identified and addressed by utilising various techniques and methods of social work practice. Students were oriented towards practical aspects of theoretical concepts. They have got the opportunity to enhance their leadership, communication, research and field intervention skills.
