Dr. S. P. K. Jena is presently a Senior Professor of Applied Psychology at the University of Delhi, Former Director, of the Institute of Behavioural Science, Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar, and the former Editor of the Indian Journal of Clinical Psychology. He graduated from the Centre of Advanced Study in Psychology, Utkal University, Bhubaneshwar. He is a licensed Clinical Psychologist trained at the National Institute of Mental Health & Neuro Sciences, Bangalore, and the Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi. He had served as Chairman of the Department of Applied Psychology, Guru Jambheswar Technical University, Hisar, as Head of the Department of Psychology, University of Delhi,
He has published widely in national and international journals. He has authored 4 books and his latest book is Homelessness: Research, Practice and Policy, Routledge: London. Dr. Jena has been a Member of several Expert Committees such as the Rehabilitation Council of India, the Department of Science and Technology, the University Grants Commission, the National Steering Committee of Socio-Behavioural Research of Indian Council Medical Research, and has served as a reviewer for Indian Council of Social Science Research and Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC), IIT, Kharagpur. His areas of research include Applied Behaviour Analysis and Cognitive-behaviour Therapy, Psychopathology, Clinical Neuropsychology, Childhood Disability, and Forensic Psychology. and has conducted about 30 Workshops many of which were dedicated to the care of children with disabilities and for security forces.
For his outstanding contribution to the field of behavioral medicine, Applied Behaviour Analysis, and Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy, he received the H. N. Murthy Oration Award from the Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists (IACP) in 2021 and the Dr. V. Kumaraiah Oration Award from the National Institute of Mental Health & Neuro Sciences, Bengaluru in 2022.
