Research Projects
Project Title Project Type Year Of Sanction Outcome/Output Duration
Bacteriophages and their products for controlling the biofilms of drug resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae Major 2022 1. Research papers on the prevalence of anti-microbial resistant (AMR) and biofilm- forming K pneumoniae in clinical isolates of hospitals of southern India. 2. Research papers on the identification, cloning, and in-vitro biofilm eradication activity of phage – associated molecules. 3. Research papers on the biofilm eradication efficacy of bacteriophage and phage associated protein cocktail on AMR K pneumoniae biofilm. 4. Research papers on the application of phage/phage consortium against biofilm formed inside Central Venous Catheter (CVC). 5. Patent on the novel bacteriophage/s strain/s and phage protein/s efficacious in biofilm eradication. Outcomes 1. An unknown picture of the prevalence of AMR K pneumoniae associated with biofilm formation in the southern part of hospitals of India will be transparent. 2. Improvisation and modification of policies in the use of antibiotics in hospitals. 3. Efficacy of phage-encoded molecules against biofilms will be understood. 4. New therapeutic approach can be established against this urgent health care drawback. 5. Library of bacteriophages those are effective in eradicating anti-microbial resistant K pneumoniae occurring as biofilm. 6. Training and up skilling of recruited personnel (manpower) which will lead to human resource capacity building and development. Ongoing since 10-03-2022 (3 years, 4 months, 3 days)
Devising Multi-characteristic surface coatings for central venous catheters to prevent biofilm colonization and associated infections Major 2021 Ongoing since 01-04-2021 (4 years, 3 months, 12 days)
Investigating the role of purified human milk oligosaccharides as antibiofilm agents for multi-drug resistant bacteria Major 2024 Ongoing since 01-05-2024 (1 years, 2 months, 12 days)
