Synthesis and medicinal chemistry of sialic acid-based molecules as anticancer agents | Minor | 2023 | Development of CMP-sialic acid transporter inhibitors is the emerging areas of anticancer research and there are good chances to develop/find potent anticancer molecules. Interestingly, the sialic acid-based analogues proposed here have a great potential to show antiviral activity against COVID-19 because the mechanism of action of these compounds would be very similar to some of best antiviral drugs i.e., Tamiflu. The proposed research will have a direct and greater impact on human health and the environment. I hope to develop several therapeutic agents with better anticancer and antiviral activities. Additionally, most of the work proposed here has patentable potential which is an added advantage.
