Bio Note

I am a  Professor of English in the Department of English,Faculty of Arts,University of Delhi, Delhi, India. I am an academician with more than 20 years of experience.  My fields of research include  Literary Studies with interdisciplinary focus, Indian Literature, Classical Indian Poetics, Translation Studies and Digital Humanities. . During my professional career, I have taught courses on  English Literature and Language, Indian literary theory and criticism, Translation Studies, South African Indian Writings, Disability Studies, Research Methodology etc. I have  published several research papers in peer reviewed national & international journals. I was the editor of  an anthology on Digital Culture in Humanities: Contemporary Trends published by ABS Books, a Delhi-based publishing house in January 2023. I am the co-editor of Green Symphony: Studies in Ecocriticism, Ecological Criticism for our Times: Literature, Nature and Critical inquiry (Sarup & Sons,New Delhi 2011),Ecological Criticism for our Times: Literature, Nature and Critical inquiry(Authorspress, New Delhi 2011)and Subaltern Vision: a Study in Post-colonial Indian English Novel(Cambridge Scholars Publishing, UK 2012).  I also edited  a Special Issue of the Journal Literary Miscellany ( An International Journal of Literary Studies) on Indian Poetics: Theory and Praxis  (Vol 1, No 1,) in  2017, published by Bahri Publications, New Delhi, India. I  was a Fulbright visiting Lecturer, India Studies Program, Indiana University, Bloomington, USA in 2007-2008. I was nominated for Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship in UK for the year 2013. I received the Sahitya Akademy Travel Grants Award in 2014. I served as visiting faculty in Department of English, Leipzig University in 2014 sponsored by ICSSR, INDIA and DFG, GERMANY, in the Department of English, University of Johannesburg, South Africa in 2017 sponsored by lCSSR ,lndia and NIHSS, South Africa. I successfully completed two Research Projects funded by University Grans Commission, India and Indian council of Philosophical Research, India in 2012-2014.  I was awarded with the MHRD, Govt of India Funded International Collaborative Project in Digital Humanities in Indian Rim under SPARC (Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration) to collaborate with Western Sydney University, Australia for 2019-2021. I  was selected for Faculty Mobility Award sponsored by Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute and Ministry of Human Resource Development for 2020-2021. I received  Hungarian state scholarship awards  in the academic year 2021-2022  and  2022-2023  funded by Tempus Foundation of Government of Hungary to carry  collaborative Research Project in the Institute of English and American Studies, Debrecan University, Hungary and at the ELTE Department of English Studies, EötvösLoránd University, Budapest Hungary respectively.  My Bengali translation of Amit Chaudhuri’s Sahitya Akademi Award-winning English novel, A New World (2000) by the Sahitya Akademi, India’s national academy of letters was  published in 2021. I am presently the Indian Principal Investigator of  SPARC (Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration)  International Project  on “Indian-European entanglements: exploring trans-cultural relationships through Digital Humanities”,to collaborate with Ghent Centre for Digital humanities- Ghent University, Belgium funded by Ministry of Education, Govt of India from 2023-2025.
