Bio Note

Dr. Abigail Lalnuneng is an anthropologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Delhi, India. Prior to this appointment, she served as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Anthropology at Royal Thimphu College, Bhutan, where she also contributed to interdisciplinary teaching in Environmental Management, Political Science and Sociology, and Sports and Health Sciences. She was earlier associated with the Department of Anthropology at Sikkim University (2015 and 2018–2021). In 2021, she worked as a Sports Scientist (Anthropometrist) with the Sports Authority of India, Department of Sports, Government of India. She has additionally been involved in professional training on project management and Scrum methodology with the Knowledge Academy, United Kingdom.

 

Dr. Lalnuneng holds a Gold Medal in M.Sc. Anthropology and earned her Ph.D. from the Department of Anthropology, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong. Her doctoral and subsequent research examine the biocultural dimensions of obesity, hypertension, and related non-communicable diseases with particular attention to communities in Northeast India and the wider Indian context. Her broader academic interests include Biocultural Anthropology, Applied Anthropology, Public Health, Non-Communicable Diseases, Biostatistics, Women’s Rights, and Education. She remains committed to teaching, research, and academic engagement informed by anthropology’s integrative perspective, with a focus on community-based research, applied health initiatives, and human well-being.
