I am Professor of Geography, in the University of Delhi's Delhi School of Economics (DSE).
I have a doctoral degree (PhD) from Indian Institute of Technology at New Delhi (IIT-D), and two master's degrees - Master of Arts (MA) in Geography from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and Master of Planning (M.Plan) in Regional Planning from School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), both at New Delhi. Earlier, I did Bachelor of Arts (BA) with honours in Geography from Kirori Mal College (KMC), affiliated to the University of Delhi; and before that did my schooling from The Air Force School (TAFS) at Subroto Park in New Delhi.
My teaching and research specializations are in the realm of 'new' economic geographies, and development theories and regional policies.
I am currently investigating contemporary and inter-disciplinary themes like informal economies, place marketing and city branding, creative and cultural economies, and place making and place-led-development. This is visible in the papers taught (MA), research guidance (MPhil and PhD), projects undertaken, publications (articles in Scopus listed Elsevier Journals; chapters in Springer and Routledge books), and paper presentations in a series of notable international conferences - IGU (Moscow, 2015), ECSAS (Warsaw, 2016), IGC (Beijing, 2016), NGM (Stockholm, 2017), RGS-IBG (Cardiff, 2018), AAG (Washington DC, 2019), IGC (Istanbul, 2021) and AAG (San Francisco, 2026).
