Bio Note

Latika Gupta teaches educational theory and pedagogy courses at Delhi University’s Central Institute of Education. A bilingual writer, she previously worked for the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT), contributing to the development of social and political life textbooks for the upper-primary grades and EVS textbooks for the primary grades. She has coordinated the production of two graded reading series for children to learn to read. One of them is in Hindi titled Barkha, produced by the NCERT and the other is in Tibetan produced by the Tibetan Govt in Exile. She did a massive study on corporal punishments in schools for the NCPCR (National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights)

She works with international and grassroot level NGOs to train schoolteachers and develop curricular material.She had spearheaded a major reform project on the teaching of Tibetan in refugee schools in India run by the Tibetan Govt. in Exile.

She was a Fulbright Fellow to University of Wisconsin, Madison , USA and a FUR fellow, a foundation established by the Nobel peace prize given to His Holiness The Dalai Lama.

Her research interests include children’s social and academic life,  gender, citizenship- education, teacher-education and peace studies.
