Dr. Abhishek Thakur is working as an Assistant Professor at Department of Social Work, University of Delhi. He holds a MPhil and Master’s Degree from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai India. He is a recipient of the Gold Medal from TISS, Mumbai. He is also an alumnus of the Prestigious St. Stephens College, University of Delhi. 

His research interest includes Disability and Employment, Management of Non-Profit Organizations, Technology and Social Change. He has successfully completed various research projects on Community Based Rehabilitation and Sustainable Livelihood Framework in collaboration with CBM, an International Organization working majorly in the field of Disability. He also published on different issues such as Employment and Disability, Water and Health, Skill Development and so on.

He is part of the Governing Body of National Association for the Blind and Blind Relief Association Delhi, India. He is a member of expert committee on Disability Employment set up by the Government of Delhi, India. Currently he is also an expert member of Labour Department, Govt of NCT of Delhi. He served as a member of Task Force committee, National Skill Development Corporation, Government of India.
