Prof. Satyabrata Mohapatra is presently working as Professor at University School of Basic and Applied Sciences, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi, India. Prof. Mohapatra obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from Institute of Physics (IOP), Bhubaneswar, India. After completing Postdoc from Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), New Delhi, Brain Korea Visiting Scientist from SAINT, Suwon, South Korea and CNRS Postdoctoral Visiting Fellow from CSNSM, Orsay, France he joined Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi, India in 2008 where he is currently heading the Multifunctional Nanomaterials Laboratory.
Prof. Satyabrata Mohapatra is an elected Fellow of the Indian Chemical Society and a Member of the National Academy of Sciences, India and has been bestowed with the highly prestigious MRSI Medal (2024) for his outstanding contributions to Materials Science and Engineering. His excellent research is reflected by his more than 140 papers in international journals with more than 6300 Citations with H-index 46, 1 book, 2 book chapters and 115 papers presented/published in National/ International Conferences. Prof. Mohapatra has figured in the World's Top 2% Scientists in Applied Physics for the last 6 years (2020-2025) by Stanford University USA and Elsevier with best All India Rank # 29 in Applied Physics. Prof. Mohapatra has figured as "Highly Ranked Scholar" in the World Top 0.05% Scientists in Nanostructure with All India Rank # 2 and World Rank # 29 (last 5 years) and All India Rank # 12 (Lifetime). He is an Editor of NANO, Editor of Materials Open, Associate Editor of "Nanocatalysis" section of "Frontiers in Nanotechnology", Associate Editor of "Nanoscience" section of "Frontiers in Chemistry", Section Editor of "Current Nano-Toxicity and Prevention" and Editorial Board Member of International journals: Recent Patents in Nanotechnology and General Chemistry. His research is focused on the development of multifunctional hybrid nanostructures, metal oxides, transition metal dichalcogenides and 2D material based hybrid plasmonic nanostructures and nanocomposites and their ion beam engineering for applications in photocatalysis, catalysis, gas sensing, biosensing, energy harvesting, development of strong antimicrobials and most importantly “water purification”.
