Nanostructured metal oxide-drug assemblies and their interaction mechanism with biomolecules: A joint experimental and first principal investigation for possible therapeutic applications Major 2021 In the way to develop interactions of nanostructured metal oxides (NMO) with drug/biosystems, green synthesized ZnO and MgO shows shape dependent bioactivity against model biosystem (Guanine). The ZnO NPs (triangular) shows better antibacterial activity than MgO NPs (rock shaped) in general. Theoretical investigation reveals that triangular ZnO NPs and rock shaped MgO NPs shows better bioactivity compared to their respective prototypical spherical counterparts. It is observed that the choice of solvent also controls the Average crystallite size (ACS) and band gaps along with the morphology of the samples. It is noted that needle shaped ZnO nanocrystals are obtained when water is used as the solvent. On the other hand, methanol always yields nanocrystals having smaller ACSs.
